A high-profile aristocrat faces charges of intentional strangulation.
The 70-year-old Duke of Marlborough is accused of assaulting the same individual on three separate occasions in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, over an 18-month span.
Charles James Spencer-Churchill, who previously went by Jamie Blandford, is related to both Sir Winston Churchill and Diana, Princess of Wales.
He is set to appear before Oxford Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The alleged offences occurred between November 2022 and May 2024, according to Thames Valley Police.
Mr Spencer-Churchill, the former Marquess of Blandford, was arrested on 13 May 2024.
He inherited the dukedom in 2014 after his father, the 11th Duke of Marlborough, passed away.
Within the family tree, he is a first cousin, three times removed, of Sir Winston Churchill and a distant relative of the late Princess Diana through the Spencer line.
The family estate associated with Blenheim Palace in Woodstock is his ancestral home, though he neither owns nor manages the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Requests for comment from the duke’s representatives have been made.
