🇩🇪 Germany: Exciting Announcement for Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2026
SWR has recently unveiled intriguing details about the upcoming national selection process for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2026, which will take place in Vienna.
After the announcement of the nine talented acts competing for the chance to represent Germany, SWR has clarified how the selection show will unfold. The first phase will see all nine artists perform their respective entries, followed by an initial round of voting. In this critical first round, an international jury comprised of 20 members from various countries participating in the Eurovision Song Contest will cast their votes. The three acts that receive the highest votes will advance to the next stage.
Following this, the German audience will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred act, determining who will wave the flag for Germany at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. This format echoes last year's approach, where Stefan Raab and a jury selected five finalists for the public to choose from.
The Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2026 is set to be broadcast live from Berlin on February 28. Hosting the show will be Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger, who previously hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The finalists competing for this prestigious opportunity include:
- BELA – "Herz" (Heart)
- Dreamboys The Band – "Jeanie"
- Laura Nahr – "Wonderland"
- Malou Lovis – "when I’m with you"
- Molly Sue – "Optimist (Ha Ha Ha)"
- MYLE – "A OK"
- Ragazzki – "Ciao Ragazzki"
- Sarah Engels – "Fire"
- wavvyboi – "black glitter"
In the previous Eurovision event held in 2025, Abor & Tynna represented Germany with their song "Baller," finishing in 15th place with a total score of 151 points.

Since its inception in 1956, Germany has been an integral part of the Eurovision Song Contest, only missing out in 1996 when they didn't qualify. Over the years, Germany has celebrated victory twice. The first win came in 1982 when Nicole performed "Ein Bisschen Frieden" in Harrogate, which later gained international acclaim. The second victory occurred in 2010, with Lena's performance of "Satellite" in Oslo, earning an impressive 246 points, including nine sets of the maximum 12 points.
