A shocking incident unfolded at Harvard Medical School, leaving many stunned. Two young men, Logan David Patterson, 18, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 20, have been apprehended by the FBI following a Saturday morning explosion. The blast occurred on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building, specifically within a research laboratory, around 3 a.m., as confirmed by officials.
The explosive device, believed to be a Roman candle firework, detonated inside a research locker. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
FBI Boston Special Agent in Charge Ted Docks emphasized that this was no mere prank, but a serious federal crime. He highlighted the potential for severe consequences, stating that there could have been casualties had people been present in the building at the time of the explosion.
But here's where it gets controversial... U.S. Attorney Leah Belaire Foley noted that the suspects, who do not attend Harvard, may have been involved in activities related to several parties held on Friday.
Surveillance footage captured the two suspects, their faces concealed, near the medical school, igniting what appeared to be Roman candle fireworks. They then allegedly accessed the building's roof via scaffolding. Campus police were alerted to a fire alarm triggered by the explosion on the fourth floor, which houses a neurobiology research lab. Security video showed the suspects fleeing the scene.
And this is the part most people miss... The FBI recovered video allegedly showing Cardoza discarding his pants in a garbage can after fleeing. Investigators later retrieved the pants. Public assistance played a crucial role, with individuals identifying the suspects, leading to their apprehension.
Agent Docks also mentioned that the suspects allegedly boasted about their actions to their friends.
