Marc Marquez Calls for Pecco Bagnaia’s Comeback in MotoGP 2026 | Ducati's Future & Rivals’ Rise (2026)

The Importance of a Champion's Return: MotoGP's Future Depends on It

In a recent interview, Marc Marquez emphasized the significance of Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia's comeback to top form in MotoGP 2026. Despite his own championship win in 2025, Marquez acknowledges the crucial role Bagnaia plays in Ducati's development.

"We need Pecco back at his best," Marquez stated. "His sensitivity on the bike is a unique asset, and it will greatly contribute to Ducati's future success."

But here's where it gets controversial: Bagnaia's struggles with the 2025 Desmosedici, which lacked the front feeling of the 2024 version he dominated on, have been attributed to his sensitivity as a rider. However, Marquez sees this sensitivity as an advantage, believing that with the right adjustments, Bagnaia can once again be a force to be reckoned with.

"The speed is there, he's shown it in practices and races. In Motegi, he proved it by taking 37 points, and even I couldn't catch him," Marquez explained. "A few months can make a big difference, so December and January will be crucial for Pecco to reset and come back strong."

The Rising Rivals: A Challenge for Ducati

While Ducati's factory riders faced challenges in 2025, their rivals made significant progress. Aprilia dominated the last four races, KTM's Pedro Acosta consistently battled for podiums, and Honda went from struggling to top-10 finishes to scoring two podiums in the Asian races.

Despite these advancements, Marquez remains confident in Ducati's capabilities. "Aprilia is growing, KTM is improving, and Honda has made massive strides. In MotoGP, it's all about racing. At the end of the day, Ducati is the best team with the best bike," he asserted.

Marquez's faith in Ducati is deeply rooted in his belief in the team's General Manager, Gigi Dall'Igna. "I'm grateful to Gigi and Ducati for giving me the chance to showcase my talent. They believed in me and made a difficult decision to move me to the factory team. Gigi's mentality is perfect for leading a MotoGP team; he organizes and controls situations effectively. His guidance has been invaluable," Marquez shared.

As we look ahead to MotoGP 2026, the return of a champion like Bagnaia and the rising competition from rivals will undoubtedly create an exciting season. What do you think? Will Ducati maintain its dominance, or will the rising rivals challenge their supremacy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
