Tiger Woods' Comeback Uncertain: No PNC Championship, PGA Tour Return Timeline Unknown (2026)

Golf legend Tiger Woods is taking a break from the sport, with no immediate plans to return to competition. Woods, who underwent a second back surgery in October, is still in the early stages of his recovery. He met with the media ahead of the Hero World Challenge, expressing his eagerness to get back on the course.

Despite his enthusiasm, Woods is being cautious. He hasn't set a specific timeline for his return to the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, or even the indoor TGL league. His recent surgeries, including a disc replacement and a left Achilles tendon repair, have kept him out of action since March. Woods' last regular tournament was the PNC Championship, where he and his son, Charlie, finished as runners-up.

The 50-year-old golfer is eligible to compete in the senior circuit in 2026, but he hasn't committed to any specific events. He's considering a few tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions schedule but hasn't finalized his plans. Woods' focus is on getting back to playing golf, emphasizing his passion for the sport after a challenging year.

'I’d like to come back to just playing golf again. I haven’t played golf in a long time. It’s been a tough year. I’ve had a lot of things happen on and off the golf course that’s been tough,' Woods said. 'And so, my passion is to just play; I haven’t done that in a long time.'
